Level Sensor In the pneumatic conveying system, the level sensor is mainly used to monitor the amount of materials in storage devices such as silos and storage tanks to ensure that the normal operation of the system will not be affected due to overfullness or shortage.
Depending on the type of technology, the working principle of the material level meter is different. The following are several common material level meters and how they work:
Ultrasonic material level meter: Using the principle of ultrasonic reflection, the transmitter sends ultrasonic pulses to the material surface, and the receiver calculates the time difference after receiving the signal reflected from the material surface, thereby determining the height of the material.
Radar level meter: Using microwave technology, it emits continuous waves or pulse waves to the material surface, and calculates the distance by measuring the time delay of the reflected waves.
Capacitive material level meter: Based on the principle of capacitance change, when the material contacts the sensor, the dielectric constant between the two plates is changed, which in turn causes a change in capacitance to determine the position of the material.
Mechanical material level meter: such as rotating vane type or float type, which relies on direct contact between mechanical parts and materials to sense the presence or absence of materials and height changes.
Radio frequency admittance level meter: uses radio frequency current to measure the admittance value of the material to the probe to detect the material level.
Output signal: 4-20mA, 0-10VDC
Response time: fast
Protection level: IP65, IP67, etc.
Power supply: 24VDC, 220VAC, etc.
Installation method: top installation, side installation or bottom installation
Communication protocol: HART, Modbus RTU, etc.
Non-contact measurement: Some types (such as ultrasonic, radar) do not require direct contact with materials, reducing the risk of wear and contamination.
High-precision measurement: Provides accurate material level readings to help optimize inventory management and production planning.
Diversified choices: suitable for various material forms (solid, liquid, slurry) and working conditions.
Easy to install and maintain: compact design, easy to install, and most models have self-diagnostic functions to facilitate troubleshooting.
Good real-time performance: Quickly respond to changes in material levels, providing a reliable basis for automated control.
Strong anti-interference ability: able to work stably in complex electromagnetic environments and reduce the influence of external factors.
Multi-function integration: Some advanced models also integrate functions such as temperature compensation and automatic calibration to improve overall performance.
Material level meters are widely used in all aspects of pneumatic conveying systems, especially where precise material level control and monitoring are required.
