The working principle of the silo is based on its structural design and the operation of auxiliary devices:
Inlet and outlet: There is an inlet on the top of the silo, which is used to receive materials from the upstream process; there is an outlet on the bottom, which is connected to downstream conveying or processing equipment.
Conical or wedge-shaped bottom: In order to promote the flow of materials, the bottom of the silo is usually designed to be conical or wedge-shaped, so that the material can naturally slide towards the discharge port and reduce the possibility of blockage.
Vibrator or arch breaking device: Some silos are equipped with vibrators or arch breaking devices to prevent materials from forming bridges in the bin and ensure smooth flow of materials.
Air cannon or purging device: For materials that are easy to agglomerate or adhere, an air cannon or purging device may be installed inside the silo to regularly clean the residual material on the silo wall to maintain smooth material flow.
Weighing sensors: Some smart silos are equipped with weighing sensors that can monitor the weight of materials in the silo in real time and provide feedback information to the automated control system.
When the material enters the silo, it gradually settles to the bottom of the silo due to gravity and is discharged through the discharge port. If the material has poor fluidity or is prone to agglomeration, the auxiliary device will be activated to ensure that the material can be discharged smoothly.
